FemDx Medsystems Falloposcope Cleared

The FDA has granted 510(k) clearance to FemDx Medsystems’ FalloView micro-endoscope for inspection of the uterus and fallopian tubes.

The disposable 1.2mm diameter falloposcope, which features a semiconductor chip, a self-contained light source and a video display, is powered with a nine-volt battery. The liquid crystal diode screen on the handle of the device allows the physician to visualize the patient’s anatomy.

The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company is also developing other devices to improve women’s health, including instruments for uterine fibroid ablation and resection.
