Proprio’s Light Field Technology Surgical Navigation Platform Gets 510(k) Clearance

The FDA granted 510(k) clearance to Proprio’s Paradigm spine surgical navigation platform, the first to use light field technology to create a real-time 3D view of anatomy and the surgical scene.

Light field technology captures high-definition images using light flowing in every direction through every point in space. These images are fused with preoperative scans, eliminating the need for high-radiation intraoperative scans.

The improved workflow can reduce procedure time by up to 30 minutes per surgery, the company said.
