THERAGENICS ACQUIRES DISPOSABLE MEDICAL DEVICE COMPANY

Medical device company Theragenics Corp. has bought Galt Medical Corp. for $31.9 million to diversify its medical device and surgical businesses. Garland, Texas-based Galt is a privately held company that develops, makes and markets disposable medical devices utilized for vascular access, primarily serving the interventional radiology and interventional cardiology markets. It had revenue of $7.1 million in 2005, and revenue of $5.1 million for the first six months of 2006.
