ADVAMED SUPPORTS HOUSE HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY BILL

AdvaMed President and CEO, Stephen J. Ubl, issued the following statement regarding the "Health Information Technology (HIT) Promotion Act of 2006'' (H.R. 4157). Unlike other HIT bills, H.R. 4157 establishes an implementation date for the ICD-10 coding system which is critical to the adoption of and quality reporting for medical technologies and emerging threats such as a global pandemic. ICD-10 would replace the current ICD-9 coding system which was developed more than 30 years ago.
