US-BASED CEMINES ESTABLISHES VTAK IN ESTONIA

January 14, 2005

US-based biotechnologies development company CeMines, which produces systems for cancer therapeutics and testing, has founded a new Estonian company through its local subsidiary CeMines Estonia OU. The new unit, to be known as VTAK, is intended to pool academic, government and private sector knowledge in order to enhance applied scientific research on cancer and genomic studies in oncology.

Estonia's pharmaceuticals market is small and largely dominated by generic drugs. However, the country's relatively low costs and access to highly qualified personnel appear to have prompted CeMines' plans.
