Pfizer to End Production at Michigan Plant

Drugmaker Pfizer Inc. announced Tuesday it plans to end production at its Holland, Mich., plant and sell off the facility. If a buyer cannot be found, the facility will be closed in late 2006. The plant, which is located about 25 miles southwest of Grand Rapids, employs approximately 300 people and makes active ingredients for several Pfizer medicines. One of its biggest products is gabapentin, found in the anti-seizure drug Neurontin, company spokesman Rick Chambers said.
