Siemens Introduces iScan In-Office Ear Impression Scanner

April 1, 2005

Siemens Hearing Instruments has introduced iScan, an in-office ear impression scanner that allows hearing care professionals to scan ear impressions in their office and then send the custom product order, including the digital impression, electronically to the manufacturer for production.

With iScan, hearing care professionals will be able to take advantage of digital scanning's known benefits to obtain an overall more accurate and efficient hearing instrument fitting process.

iScan attempts to eliminate most of the hassles related to handling the ear impression during the ordering process, including shipping- and paperwork-related errors. In addition, if hearing care professionals ever need to order a remake or replacement, they have the option of using the original iScan file without having to create and send a new impression.
