Vertex Files Shelf Registration to Raise $200 Million

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. plans to raise up to $200 million in the coming months to help fuel research and development, clinical trials and potential acquisitions. Reuters reported April 1 that the Cambridge company outlined its plans in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission shelf-registration filing. Vertex will sell up to $200 million in common and preferred stock, debt securities and warrants.
