Hi-Tech Pharma, BioMarin in License Deal

Generic drugmaker Hi-Tech Pharmacal said it signed a licensing and supply agreement regarding a generic version of BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc.'s Orapred medication. BioMarin will manufacture a private-label version of Orapred oral solution and Hi-Tech will sell and market it. Hi-Tech will pay BioMarin a transfer price based on the cost of production, and will also pay an additional amount based on net sales. Orapred, used to treat asthma in children, effectively masks the bitter taste of its active ingredient, making it easier to administer.
