Schering-Plough to Close San Diego Research Site

Schering-Plough announced the closing of its La Jolla-based research site, Canji, and the creation of a new unit. Schering-Plough Biopharma will be formed through the integration of Canji, which develops therapeutics based on tumor suppressor genes, and its other West Coast facility, DNAX Research Institute. The idea is to bring together two companies with leading scientific expertise under one roof, said Rosemarie Yancosek, media spokesperson for Schering-Plough.
