Hansen Medical Showcases New Catheter Control System

Hansen Medical showcased a new system that combines computed movement with robotic technology, allowing physicians to control and navigate catheters within the heart to treat potentially deadly heart-rhythm disorders. Called the Hansen Catheter Control System (CCS), the new technology is designed to provide physicians with precise catheter control and 3-D navigation for accessing hard-to-reach anatomy, while maintaining stability during treatment of complex cardiac arrhythmias, such as atrial fibrillation, a major cause of embolic stroke and severe long-term disability.
