FDA Gives OK to Vanguard to Resume Sale of Surgical Device

May 9, 2005

Vanguard Medical Concepts has been allowed to resume reconditioning of a medical device called an endoscopic trocar, now that the FDA has cleared the company to resume sale of the product. Last fall, Vanguard voluntarily removed its trocars from the market pending an FDA request for more documentation of the company's method of cleaning, testing and sterilizing the expensive devices. But this month, the FDA informed the Lakeland company it is in the clear.
