Amgen Seeks Height Rezone

May 9, 2005

Amgen wants the city of Seattle to rezone seven acres of property to allow taller buildings that would match existing buildings on the biotech company's waterfront campus. The request would keep Amgen's property zoned industrial on Pier 89 on Seattle's waterfront, next to Terminal 88 where Amgen's Helix site is located. But Amgen's request would change the zoning on a narrow strip of land from one type of industrial zone to another that would allow 65-foot-tall buildings, similar to Amgen's current buildings housing laboratories and offices.
