OsteoBiologics Receives Canadian Clearance

May 11, 2005

OsteoBiologics (OBI), a company specializing in tissue repair technologies, has received a medical device license (MDL) authorizing the marketing of its PolyGraft family of products for bone void repair in Canada.

The MDL enables the PolyGraft products, indicated to be used to fill bone voids or gaps caused by trauma or surgery, to be distributed throughout the Canadian community. This release follows OBI's recent announcement that the company received CE mark approval to market and distribute its PolyGraft family of products for bone and cartilage repair throughout Europe. The CE mark allows European surgeons to utilize OBI technology to repair bone and cartilage defects caused by either trauma or surgery.

The PolyGraft technology provides a biologically friendly and biomechanically stable scaffold during the time required for native tissue healing. The porous PolyGraft material is composed of a patented blend of polylactide-co-glycolide, calcium sulfate and polyglycolide fibers which can be fabricated into products such as granules, blocks, wedges and other preformed shapes.
