Kansas Will Share in $30.7 Million Hytrin Settlement

June 1, 2005

Kansas is among 18 states that will share in a $30.7 million settlement agreement with manufacturers of the prescription medication Hytrin. Abbott Laboratories and Geneva Pharmaceuticals agreed with the states' attorneys general to pay $28.7 million to refund consumers and third-party payers in the 18 states. The states' alleged that the companies had conspired to engage in anticompetitive conduct that delayed the availability of a cheaper generic version of the drug, Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline said in a written release.
