Able Laboratories to Cut More Positions

Generic drugmaker Able Laboratories Inc. said that it will make further job cuts, beyond the 200 layoffs already announced, as it attempts to address quality-control issues and restart manufacturing operations. In late May, Able suspended manufacturing and recalled all of its drugs because of improper lab practices -- then laid off nearly half of its employees. The company's shares had plunged about 75 percent just days before that announcement, after Able suspended shipments and the company's chairman and chief executive resigned.
