Trimeris to Team With San Diego Company to Develop HIV Drugs

June 14, 2005

Trimeris signed a deal intended to help the company develop new drugs to combat the virus that causes AIDS. The Durham-based drug development company will work with ChemBridge Research Laboratories Inc. of San Diego to discover and develop small molecule entry inhibitors of HIV - with an eye toward drugs that can be administered orally. Trimeris currently has one drug on the market, an AIDS drug called Fuzeon that is administered by injection. The drug's delivery method has made it unpopular with some physicians.
