ANS EXPANDS LAUNCH OF EON IPG SYSTEMS

June 22, 2005

Advanced Neuromodulation Systems (ANS) has expanded the U.S. market launch of its rechargeable implantable pulse generator (IPG) system after successfully completing a market test and increasing inventory levels.

The Eon Neurostimulation System offers longer recharge intervals and a broad programming capability, said ANS. It is indicated as an aid in managing chronic intractable pain in the trunk and/or limbs, including unilateral or bilateral pain associated with failed back surgery syndrome, low back pain and leg pain. It can also power up to 16 independent electrodes in a dual 8-electrode lead configuration.

The Eon system can also be configured to drive up to four separate leads with four independent electrodes on each one to offer broad flexibility when treating complex, multi-focal pain. In the future, ANS plans to submit data to the FDA that supports a longer battery life claim than the device's currently estimated seven-year battery life at high power settings.
