SUIT TO BLOCK MERA GM ALGAE

The Sierra Club and a coalition of other groups filed suit Tuesday asking that the Hawaii Department of Agriculture be ordered to conduct an environmental assessment of genetically modified microalgae. GMO Free Hawaii, Kohanaiki Ohana and Ohana Pale Ke Ao joined the suit after state agriculture officials approved production of GM organisms by Mera Pharmaceuticals, a tenant at NELHA, the Natural Energy Lab of Hawaii.
