CANTEL MEDICAL ACQUIRES SPECIALIST IN INFECTION CONTROL

August 5, 2005

Cantel Medical Corp. has bought Crosstex International Inc., an infection-control company serving the dental industry, Cantel said Wednesday. Cantel bought the Long Island-based, privately held company for $74.2 million. The transaction closed Monday. The purchase "will go a long way in replacing" business the company will lose in Canada next year, said James P. Reilly, Cantel's CEO. Cantel's subsidiary, Carsen Group Inc., recently lost a contract to distribute medical and scientific supplies in Canada for Olympus America Inc. The $38 million-a-year contract will end July 31, 2006. Crosstex makes and sells single-use infection-control products, including patient bibs, sterilization pouches and gloves, used mostly by dentists.
