August 17, 2005

Acambis Plc, a U.K. maker of vaccines for anti-terrorism programs, is preparing a bid for a contract for supplying another 20 million doses of smallpox vaccine to the U.S. government. The bidding will close Sept. 29 and the U.S. has indicated that contracts will be awarded in Feb. 2006, Cambridge, England-based Acambis said today in a Regulatory News Service statement. Acambis is working on MVA3000, a new vaccine that may help people with weakened immune systems who can't get traditional versions.
