IMMUNICON TO LAY OFF WORKERS, TAKE CHARGE

Immunicon Corp., a developer of cancer treatments, said Monday that it plans to cut about a quarter of its full-time staff in an effort to reduce its cash burn going into 2006. The company said cost cuts are necessary to accommodate uncertainty about revenue growth and said the decision reflects recent discussions with Johnson & Johnson's Veridex about plans for their partnership for the rest of 2005 and 2006. The Veridex partnership involves a kit to detect and manage breast cancer.
