CEPHALON DRUG GETS WIDER USE IN GERMANY

Cephalon Inc. received authorization from the Federal Institute for Drugs and Devices in Germany to market modafinil tablets as a treatment of moderate to severe chronic shift work sleep disorder. The drug, marketed under the trade name Vigil, has been available in Germany since 1998 as a treatment for narcolepsy. Cephalon (NASDAQ: CEPH), based in Frazer, Pa., sells the drug as Provigil in the United States, where it is approved for excessive sleepiness associated with a variety of disorders.
