VENTURE FUND GROUP LAUNCHES HIV THERAPY FIRM

PA Early Stage Partners, a family of venture funds that invests in early stage life sciences and information technology companies, said Wednesday that a new company focused on developing HIV treatments will be based in Pittsburgh. Azidex Pharmaceuticals Inc., a joint venture between the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Illinois-Champaign, will work to identify -- from a library of compounds -- the best candidate of treatments it is developing to enter formal preclinical development.
