MERCK KGAA ACQUIRES SPAIN'S PRASFARMA FOR 20 MLN EUR

Merck KGaA said its Spanish unit Merck Genericos SL has acquired Almirall Prodesfarma SA's Prasfarma subsidiary for 20 mln eur. The purchase includes related industrial assets of the Almirall Group and is expected to be completed before the end of this year, Merck said. The deal does not include Prasfarma's co-promotion rights for the cancer drug Campto (irinotecan), however, which will remain with Almirall. Prasfarma's 55 employees are expected to transfer to Merck, it added.
