FDA RE-APPROVES ZYFLO ASTHMA TREATMENT

September 30, 2005

Critical Therapeutics has announced that the FDA has re-approved the Zyflo asthma treatment it bought from Abbott Laboratories in 2004. Zyflo was first approved for asthma in 1996, but Critical Therapeutics had to reapply to the agency when it acquired the drug.

Zyflo is the only FDA-approved medicine that works by limiting production of 5-lipoxygenase, an enzyme responsible for production of a family of inflammation-causing proteins called leukotrienes.
