ALLIANCE ASSISTS HOSPITALS IN SALVAGING DEVICES

October 3, 2005

Alliance Medical, a reprocessor of single-use devices, recently announced that it would help hospitals assess whether devices whose packaging was damaged by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita are still useable.

The company will provide on-site inventory assessments, logistics and transportation management, and return of reprocessable products at a reduced cost to these hospitals. The same program saved hospitals in Houston over $1 million during the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Allison in 2001.

According to Alliance, while many medical devices may not function correctly if they have been exposed to high levels of heat or humidity many at hospitals and medical facilities across the affected region are still good, and only require properly replaced sterile packaging.

"By providing expedited reprocessing services, we anticipate helping hospitals get their facilities back up and running as quickly as possible while saving them millions of dollars in device replacement costs and eliminating tons of unnecessary waste from their devastated environments," said Rick Ferreira, president of Alliance.
