MEDIGENE REPORTS POSITIVE RESULTS OF OINTMENT TRIAL

MediGene has reported that two Phase III trials investigating the efficacy and safety of the Polyphenon E ointment to treat genital warts has achieved its objectives of efficacy and safety with statistical significance.

The trials, which included more than 1,000 patients, showed completed clearance of genital warts in 55 percent of patients, as compared to placebo. About 78 percent of the patients treated with Polyphenon E Ointment showed complete or almost complete clearance of genital warts, and only about six percent showed recurring warts during the 12-week follow-up.
