BOSTON SCIENTIFIC RELEASES RESULTS OF STENT STUDY

October 10, 2005

Boston Scientific will release clinical trial results for its Taxus Express2 heart stent beginning Oct. 17, the company announced.

Boston Scientific will issue various studies on the effectiveness of its paclitaxel-eluting stent system at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics conference next week. In all, the company will present 16 clinical abstracts, 20 additional scientific presentations, and two educational symposia, with a total of 38,000 patients involved.

The company argues that its studies show how effective the Taxus Express2 stent is. "The long-term data from our Taxus program shows a sustained efficacy benefit out to four years and an established 'real world' safety record," said Paul LaViolette, chief executive officer of Boston Scientific.
