TRIAL SHOWS SUCCESS OF TAXUS STENT

Boston Scientific is arguing that recent clinical trials show that its Taxus drug-eluting stent is safe and effective.

According to the company, four Taxus clinical studies showed very few instances of stent thrombosis, death or myocardial infarction from use of the paclitaxel-eluting stents over the past several years. The company announced the results of these clinical studies at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics symposium, being held in Washington, D.C.

"The Taxus clinical results reported today are outstanding and demonstrate the long-term safety and efficacy of paclitaxel-eluting stent technology," said Gregg Stone, the principal investigator of the Taxus IV clinical trial.
