ABBOTT TO TAKE $200 MLN IN RESTRUCTURING CHARGES

Abbott Laboratories Inc. (ABT.N: Quote, Profile, Research) on Wednesday said it will take after-tax charges of about $200 million for a previously announced restructuring of its manufacturing plants that is slated to be completed by late 2007. The suburban Chicago maker of drugs and medical devices said the charges will include employee termination costs of about $45 million, impairment and depreciation of plant and equipment of about $90 million and other costs of about $65 million.
