ANDRX FILES ANDA FOR CARDIZEM LA

Andrx has announced that it has a pending abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) with the FDA for generic versions of Cardizem LA (diltiazem HCl extended-release tablets). Cardizem is used to treat high blood pressure and various forms of angina.

Andrx initially filed an ANDA for 420-mg strength tablets in April. In August, Andrx amended its initial ANDA submission to include 120-, 180-, 240-, 300- and 360-mg dosage strengths.
