SIGMA-ALDRICH THIRD-QUARTER PROFIT RISES

Research chemical provider Sigma-Aldrich Corp. said Tuesday its third-quarter profit rose on strong sales in all segments, a lower tax rate and a currency contribution, prompting the company to raise its full-year earnings expectations. The company earned $63.9 million, or 94 cents per share, up 14 percent from $56.3 million, or 81 cents per share, in the year-ago period.
