ALTANA SEEKS PARTNER FOR DRUGS UNIT, UPS OUTLOOK

Germany's Altana (ALTG.DE: Quote, Profile, Research) will seek a partner for its drugs unit, it said on Wednesday, as it raised its 2005 earnings target after nine-month profits beat forecasts thanks to strong sales of its flagship drug. Earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) rose 12 percent to 522 million euros ($626.7 million) in the first nine months, driven by robust sales of anti-ulcer drug pantoprazole.
