MERCK IN CANCER RESEARCH DEAL WITH AVEO

Pharmaceutical firm Merck & Co. is joining with privately-held Aveo Pharmaceuticals Inc. to develop certain targeted cancer therapies, Aveo said Wednesday. The company did not provide financial details in a news release. The agreement, Merck's second with Aveo, covers the use of Aveo technology to identify patient groups likely to respond to a number of experimental cancer drugs Merck is currently developing.
