GLAXOSMITHKLINE TO BUILD RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PLANT IN SINGAPORE
November 4, 2005
British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline said it will build a new, 68 mln usd research and development facility in Singapore. The plant, which would convert experimental treatments into prescribable medicines when it becomes operational in 2007, will be built on the same site hosting the company's current manufacturing facility.
Philip Yeo, chairman of the state-run Agency for Science, Technology and Research, said the new facility will boost Singapore's aim to become a strategic site globally for the production of high-value pharmaceuticals.
