The Ministry of Public Health says that it plans to import 400,000 more doses of Tamiflu, the drug used for treating bird flu in humans caused by the lethal H5N1 virus, in early 2006. A total of 600,000 doses of Tamiflu are being stockpiled at the Central Medical Equipment Company I. However, the Ministry is also preparing to buy the right to produce Tamiflu as well as the supply of materials and the production process from Roche Pharmaceuticals. It is expected that Vietnam might produce Tamiflu in the fourth quarter of 2005.
