CIPLA, AKORN INC IN DRUG DEVELOPMENT DEAL

Drug maker Cipla Ltd and US-based Akorn Inc have entered into an agreement to develop and supply a generic oral anti-infective drug. Akorn said in a statement today that the drug, which it did not name, is distributed and used mainly in US hospitals and has a current market size of 100 million dollars. According to the agreement, Cipla will develop and make the drug while Akorn will make the regulatory submissions and do the clinical development.
