MIGRAINE TREATMENT LIFTS SMALL COMPANY
November 10, 2005
NMT Medical is a little-known Boston-based medical-device company with a rocky
past, mounting losses and, in its most recent quarter, just $6 million in revenue.
So why are NMT's thinly traded shares up 185 percent since the beginning of
the year? The excitement stems from evidence that many strokes and, more surprising,
migraine headache attacks might be linked to a common but little-known heart
defect, a flap in the wall separating the two upper chambers of the heart that
can be pushed open when a person is under stress.
