ID BIOMEDICAL LOSS BALLOONS ON HIGHER SHIRE COSTS

ID Biomedical Corp. (IDB.TO: Quote) (IDBE.O: Quote) said on Thursday that its third-quarter loss ballooned 368 percent on surging costs from the Canadian vaccine maker's takeover of Shire Pharmaceuticals' (SHP.L: Quote) vaccine assets last year. ID Biomedical, the target of a $1.4 billion takeover bid from Britain's GlaxoSmithKline Plc (GSK.L: Quote) posted a net loss of C$35.6 million, or 82 Canadian cents a share, in the period ended September 30.
