SONOSITE'S ULTRASOUND TOOL GIVES STOCK HEALTHY IMAGE

November 14, 2005

Good things sometimes come in small packages. Just ask Kevin Goodwin, chief executive officer of SonoSite, a fast-growing manufacturer of medical devices with annual revenue of about $150 million. The company, based in Bothell, Wash., has been getting a nice lift from its latest hand-carried ultrasound diagnostic tool, the MicroMaxx. The device, no bigger than a laptop computer and weighing as little as three pounds, is used by doctors to detect heart defects, monitor kidney blood flows, check on the development of fetuses and search for injuries in accident victims taken to hospital emergency rooms.
