SHOULDER FIXATION TO DRIVE GROWTH IN JAPANESE ENDOSCOPY MARKETS

November 23, 2005

Compared to open surgical methods, endoscopy procedures provide faster recovery periods and reduce patient pain as well as medical overhead costs. As a result of these benefits, Japanese physicians are displaying a continued interest in endoscopy and becoming more proficient in endoscopy techniques. According to a new report by Millennium Research Group (MRG), the Japanese endoscopy device market will expand by almost $130 million over the next 5 years, reaching annual sales of over $800 million in 2009. The notable growth will be due in part to physician interest in minimally invasive procedures, which will continue to support many endoscopic device markets including laparoscopy, gastrointestinal endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and arthroscopy.
