ABBOTT LABS SHARES CLIMB DESPITE RUMORS

Abbott Laboratories shares advanced in high-volume trading recently, even after rumors that the company may acquire Boston Scientific were flatly denied. Abbott's New York Stock Exchange-listed shares closed up 93 cents at $38.56, but jumped as high as $39.14 in early morning trading. Boston Scientific shares, which have traded between $22.80 and $36.70 over the last year, closed up 65 cents at $27.33 on the Big Board.
