TYCO SELECTS CAMSTAR FOR QUALITY MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS

Medical device firm Tyco Healthcare has selected Camstar's Medical Device Suite software to manage its production and quality, and to improve overall performance at its manufacturing facilities. Camstar is a provider of enterprise manufacturing execution and quality management software.

The multiplant rollout will use Camstar's rapid deployment strategies to create electronic device history records and real-time performance reporting for the manufacture of bulk analgesics, disposable medical supplies, and other medical instruments, Camstar said.

Tyco needed a configurable application that can adapt to the diverse operations in the firm's 63 plants, which include batch and discrete manufacturing, said Steve McManama, CIO of Tyco Healthcare. "We are starting with a pilot in three strategic plants, and upon success, the solution will become our corporate standard," he said.
