SMT JOINS BIG LEAGUE OF DRUG ELUTING STENT MANUFACTURERS

Sahajanand Medical Technologies (SMT), the world's third-largest maker of drug-eluting stents, has just been granted the prestigious CE ("Conformite Europeenne") Mark -- approval from the European Community's Medicine Evaluation Board in the Netherlands -- for one of their lead drug eluting stents, the "Infinnium Paclitaxel System." The CE approval is akin to FDA approval in the United States, and is considered a benchmark standard by countries around the world that do not have their own evaluating systems. The approval closes the gap between SMT and the two giant companies that presently dominate the lucrative $5 billion market.
