AIDS CARE FUNDING GETS NEW HOPE
February 6, 2006
It was just a small part of the State of the Union speech last week, but when
President Bush called on Congress to "reform and reauthorize" the
Ryan White Act to help fight AIDS, it sent Mary Elizabeth Marr's hopes soaring.
Money from the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Act, which
expired last September, has gone primarily to urban areas such as New York City
and San Francisco, said Marr, executive director of the AIDS Action Coalition
in Huntsville.
