February 10, 2006

The Phase I trial for the preventive AIDS vaccine, tgaaCO9, which is being conducted at the National AIDS Research Institute (NARI) in Pune, India, has entered its next significant stage.

Following the injection of high-level dosage on 30 volunteers after a safety review of low and medium dosage, a follow up study will now begin.

The trial was carried out on batches of 10 volunteers, of whom eight were given the tgaaCO9 vaccine (which is made for subtype C of HIV) and the remaining two a placebo.
