LA JOLLA PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY REPORTS FOURTH QUARTER AND YEAR END FINANCIAL RESULTS

La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company reported a net loss for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2005 of $6.0 million, or $0.33 per share (on 18.3 million weighted average shares), compared to a net loss of $11.0 million, or $0.89 per share (on 12.3 million weighted average shares), for the fourth quarter of 2004. The net loss for the twelve months ended December 31, 2005 was $27.4 million, or $1.77 per share (on 15.4 million weighted average shares), compared to a net loss of $40.5 million, or $3.40 per share (on 11.9 million weighted average shares), for the same period in 2004.
