PATHEON LOWER ON DRUG PRODUCTION PROBLEMS

Drugmaker Patheon Inc. reported a big loss in the first quarter mainly from production problems at its plant in Puerto Rico and elsewhere and warned of lower growth ahead. The Toronto-based provider of drug development and manufacturing services to the global pharmaceutical industry, said Friday it had a net loss of $11.5 million (U.S.) or 12.4 cents per share in the quarter.
