BOSTON SCI MAY REBRAND GUIDANT HEART DEVICES
Boston Scientific Chief Financial Officer Larry Best said Tuesday that upon completing its acquisition of Indianapolis-based Guidant, it may change the brand name on Guidant's devices in order to boost sales. Guidant's cardiac rhythm management sales have been bruised in recent months by a series of high-profile recalls over safety concerns. Best also said the company's goal is to beat Fridley-based Medtronic Inc. in the implantable cardiac devices market. Boston Scientific's stent division is based in Maple Grove.
